Bits & Pieces
Bits and pieces from this reporter’s notebook....
Da-deet-da-deet-deet.....From the monkeys can type department, these two items. San Bernardino County sent out 60,000 absentee ballots without party designation for the candidates. Now they’re sending out new ballots, which will probably allow some people to vote twice. Also in The Golden State, a union exec sent out invitations for a meet-‘n-greet with the Senate Pro-Tem elect. The invites said contributors-to-the-max would be able to talk about legislation with the state’s second most powerful pol, who canceled his appearance because of the wording. It wasn’t illegal, just too obvious. Said the writer, in a remarkable example of candor, "I didn't think of the terminology. It was my ignorance, error and fault."
Da-deet-da-deet-deet....Unrepentant is an artist who created a mural for the outside of the Livermore, California, library in which she misspelled eleven of 175 names, including those of Einstein, Shakespeare, Van Gogh and Michelangelo. Said the alleged artist, "The importance of this work is that it is supposed to unite people." Outraged at the objections to her misspellings she said, "They are denigrating my work."
Da-deet-da-deet-deet....Tiger Woods hasn’t been able to sink the crucial putts for a coupla years now, falling off of the pedestal as the world’s top-rated golfer. That doesn’t mean he’s out of money, of course. According to witnesses, he dropped $3 million on his wedding to a brightly blond Swedish model and former nanny over the weekend in Barbados, with Oprah, Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley in attendance.
Da-deet-da-deet-deet....Finally, the prosecution in the Scott Peterson trial has rested its case after five months and more than 170 witnesses. The defense is expected to begin its case starting next week and take another month, after which the jury will be encouraged to throw up their hands and shriek.
And that’s SetonnoteS...I’m Tony Seton.
