What a Coincidence
Synchronicity is the extraordinary coupling of significant events, stretching the definition of coincidence beyond reason. Synchronicity is important because it proves that there is something going on...a larger reality, God and more, that governs all of life as we know it, and all that we havent yet got a clue about...yet.
Synchronicity demonstrates that some force is coordinating events. And since this is true, it suggests that we need to think about how we are living our lives in general, and particularly to take ourselves more seriously. Consider that each of you is one a billion similar human beings, but you are unique. What is the value of your uniqueness? What are you doing about it?
Lemme tell you a story of why I take my life seriously, and am living it with purpose. Almost two years ago, flying back from Los Angeles to San Francisco after Thanksgiving holidays, a friend of mine sat next to a woman who was returning from a court appearance to her practice in Redding. Sharing a sense of humor and respect, the continued their conversation through email.
Two months later, I was in my friends office in San Francisco, bemoaning the fact that I couldnt find the right woman. What are you looking for, my friend asked? About five-one, a hundred-and-ten pounds, I joked. My friend gave me the email address of the woman she had met on the plane.
I emailed her, and she responded. We struck up an electronic conversation, often writing instant communications back and forth live between Redding and Mill Valley. Six days after the first email, we talked on the phone. Three days later, I drove to Redding to meet her. Two days later, we were engaged, and eight weeks later married. I have never felt as fulfilled in my life as I do with Linda.
One weekend before we got married, I brought to Linda an article from a local magazine...a publication I might pick up only every other year. It was about a family law attorney in San Francisco who was working on a process called collaborative law, which worked for settlements instead of going to court. This was a subject of interest Linda because she was getting dragged down by the horror of the family law cases she had been working on for a dozen years in the North State.
The article triggered Linda into action. She began correspondence with the San Francisco attorney, went to several seminars, and sixteen months later, created a collaborative lawyers group, and has been invited to join the board of the California collaborative lawyers association.
I dont think this could have all happened by sheer, mere coincidence. Do you?
