Da-deet-da-deet-.....Police in Blue Ash, Ohio arrested an 89-year-old woman because she wouldn’t return a football belonging to neighborhood children. She’s facing a charge of petty theft. Neighbors used to be able work out such matters on their own.
Da-deet-da-deet...Nebraska lawmakers and the governor have decided to plug the hole in a measure they passed in July that allows parents to abandon children at hospitals without repercussions. Parents were driving in from out of state and dropping off teenagers. The revision will limit drop-offs to three days old or younger.
Da-deet-da-deet...In NFL criminal news, the Cowboys’ Pacman Jones, who was suspended after his twelfth encounter with the police in the past three years, has checked into a rehab facility. And the Chiefs' Larry Johnson is being investigated for spitting a drink in a woman's face. It’s the fourth time he’s been accused of assaulting a woman in five years.
Da-deet-da-deet...Jury selection has begun in the retrial of record producer Phil Spector, after the first jury was deadlocked 10-to-2 in favor of a murder conviction. Spector is alleged to have killed singer Lana Clarkson at his home five years ago. One potential juror said he thinks celebrity defendants get a break because they can afford expensive attorneys.
Da-deet-da-deet...It’s not a lot of money in the general scheme of things, but we’re giving $13 million to Iraq to help refurbish their National Museum. You might remember it was looted during the days of shock and awe.
Da-deet-da-deet...Finally, gasoline is below $3 again; it’s still $3.33 here. But if the supplies didn’t really change much since the run-up to $4.65 a gallon in July, who pocketed the hundreds of billions of dollars difference?
