Mainstream Retards

Oh my goodness am I in trouble! I find myself agreeing with Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh. First some background. Rahm Emanuel, who has earned the disgust of just about everyone, was said to have called liberals who wanted to run ads against conservative Democrats, "f—ing retarded." (Of course he could have been saying that about anyone inside of the Beltway, or for that matter, looking in a mirror.)

However, Palin, who gave birth to a Down’s Syndrome child two years ago and therefore claims personal knowledge and privilege, was so offended by his use of the word that she demanded that the president fire his chief of staff. I agreed heartily that the snake should be fired, although for almost everything else but using the term "f—ing retarded."

Emanuel did what is the strikingly effective in erasing mistakes in today’s world, he decided on an official receiver of atonement for such sins to offer his insincere and perfunctory apology. It was the very Democratic head of the Special Olympics, Tim Shriver.

But complications set in for The Palin Crusade when Limbaugh said, "our political correct society is acting like some giant insult's taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards."

Wow, he was right, too.

All of this led up to the wing-nuts convention last weekend in Nashville. These are folks who named themselves after the Boston Tea Party, though they got some stuff wrong. First, those weren’t tea bags that were tossed into Boston Harbor but bales of tea. Second, the colonists were protesting a lack of representation. The teabaggers of today are represented, well-represented, overly so when you consider the mindlessness of so many on Capitol Hill. If they had half-a-brain, they’d toss their representatives into the bay, any bay.

This final note. The teabaggers launched their convention with an assault on the mainstream media. Curious that they don’t think of Limbaugh and Fox as today’s mainstream.
